Why Adult Ed?

Laurens County School-to-Work/Lifelong Learning is a vital link between the educational system and the community it was created to serve.

Through the B-BEST (Building Better Employment Skills for Tomorrow) model, programs are integrated for local residents of all ages and academic skills.  We strive to ensure that students graduate with the problem-solving skills that are crucial in today's workplace.  Adult students have the opportunity to gain credentials and strengthen their knowledge to enhance their employability in the local job market.

Career awareness programs through the Education and Economic Development Act stimulate the imaginations of children as young as five years old; while high school students benefit from real world experiences through internships.  Some adult students enroll in the GED or High School Diploma programs, while others seek to upgrade their computer skills or gain insight into the needs of industry through the Workcore program.

In addition to courses taught in traditional learning environments, the program utilizes local businesses by calling upon experienced industrial managers and business leaders to provide training tailored for specific workplace environments.  These programs include OSHA-approved safety classes as well as classes for non-English speaking citizens.  All are designed to improve basic skills and to meet the needs of employers and employees.
